Beary, the Jingle Bear

This is Beary, he is Stuart's jingle bear from the game Guild Wars.  Well, in actuality, he is just a polar bear with some bells attached to him.  Stuey and I made him out of regular printer paper with a polar bear papercraft pattern from Canon.  We modified couple places, but they are pretty minimal.  The pictures below show the progress we went through to make Beary.

Last but not least, below is a silly GIF of Beary who tried to drink some of the Wintersday tonics XD

Paper Flowers

Wah, I'm so lazy~  I have not blogged for a while even though I have collected so many topics to blog about.  Anyhow, since various holidays are approaching, I'm doing a tutorial on how to make some beautiful flowers out of construction paper.  These flowers can be used as holiday decorations as well as gifts.

Materials:
- Stiff paper (construction paper, card stock, scrapbooking paper...)
- Glue (I used the regular Elmer's while glue)
  Optional:
- hot glue
- toothpicks
- Glitter
- Wire
- Nail Polish
- Pearl/beads

There are many tutorials on the web, so don't worry if mine isn't very clear >.<;
This is version 1.  It is pretty easy to make, however, you have to release the flower so that it can loosen up a little bit after rolling.  The gluing process might be a little tricky, so it is good to use a toothpick to help apply it.

Once done, you can glue some glitter on to the edges to make it prettier, or even better, just apply some nail polish.  The picture below shows a black flower with pearl nail polish.

There are also a couple of variations to my method by cutting the paper differently:
Version 2 makes flowers with uneven edges (like the one below)

Version 3 makes flowers that also look pretty interesting: (this is made by Stuart)
Here's a comparison of version 1 and version 2:

Below are some that are made from patterned paper with pearls in the middle.  The stem is glued onto the flower with a glue gun.

That's all, enjoy making flowers!!!!!

DIY Lace Earrings

This is my first tutorial post!!  Recently, I got very addicted to pinterest, which inspired me to do many projects from materials I have acquired over the years.  I found a very short segment of lace couple days ago in my box of goodies and decided to make them into earrings.

Materials I used are: Lace, Earring Hooks, Pearl Beads, Adhesive Pearls, Wires, Scissors, and Pliers.
1. Lay out the lace to decide what part of it you want to use for the project.  2. Cut the lace.  3. Plan out where the beads go.  4. Put everything together with wire.  (background acquired from HERE )

Voila!

It's a super easy to do project that will take very little time and it is very foolproof.  Have fun crafting!!!!

Productive weekend is productive

Ah, I haven't blogged in a while, and this time the blog post is not all about food XD.  First of all, I went to the Scrap Exchange fabric sale on Saturday and hauled TONS of fabrics with my mother.  I also got some other junk that I thought would be interesting to make things out of.  One fabric I acquired only had one yard, but it was beautiful with gold prints, looking almost like a painting.  So I used my mad canvas stretching skills (XD) and made the fabric into three separate pieces of wall hanging thing (...what do you call this?).
Then, Stuart and I went out and dug up a four-leaf clover plant and a mushroom to plant in our new glass bottles we acquired.  I hope the mushroom doesn't die too quickly Q_Q, I'm not too sure if you can plant mushrooms....>.>

I'm very restless when I have crafting project in my mind, so after dinner on Saturday, I decided to make a messenger bag for my beloved camera!  I found a very cute fishing/adventuring print fabric and some scraps of denim that I bought from the Scrap Exchange.  The design of the bag itself is very simple, just a box with a lid.  Who knew, it was much harder to make than I had expected for I have never made a bag before XD (I usually just make clothes).  Anyhow, the deed is done!  I'm in love with the bag for the print and huge button I put on the front.  I put some boxes in there as place holders for the future cushions that I'm going to make once I get some sponge or fillers to put in there.

Now, Stuart and mom are making some yummy apple pies which might or might not become a blog post XD

Okay, that's that~
